Finally, the moment of satisfaction and relief has arrived and I am thrilled! It came when my son was having his tonsils out and we were waiting the required 10 days in Anchorage till the doc cleared him to go home. We had time on our hands and so I busied myself with good old graph paper and a pencil, my choice of design materials. (Cheap, easy and no electricity needed) I etched it out by the squares, decided that it was what I wanted, bought colored pencils, and went to work coloring away. The end result was what I thought the project needed the entire time, a POP of color and the blue was it. Besides, who ever has walked through the forest mushroom hunting and not seen a blue sky anyway? Not I, I assure you. You see, inspiration from a beautiful fall day.
I was asked to design a hat for our local yarn and fiber store, The Net Loft, in Cordova, Ak. The yarn was beautiful and bursting with fall colors like we see here in the Alaskan wilderness. I started designing the hat, knitted it, ripped it out, and started over numerous times! So much in fact I sat the yarn in the corner for a time out so to speak. This was last October, it is now March for peat sake. But alas it is finished except for tucking in the snipped ends and a tassel being made for the top of the hat for good measure. I guess one could call it a fairisle hat with an Alaskan touch of inspiration.
Thanks sweet girl for letting me borrow your head for this photo op! Love you xoxo
